Weather and when to visit
Morocco includes coast, mountains, inland cities and desert, so temperatures vary greatly. Spring and autumn are often comfortable for broad itineraries; summer can be very hot in the south, while winter brings cold nights in mountain and desert areas.
What to pack
- Comfortable shoes for medinas and uneven ground.
- Sun protection, a hat and a reusable bottle.
- A warm layer for mornings, nights and higher areas.
- Respectful clothing adaptable to different settings.
Money and connectivity
The currency is the Moroccan dirham. Cards are accepted in many hotels and urban businesses, but cash remains practical in markets and smaller towns. Local SIM cards and Wi-Fi are common, although coverage may decrease on remote routes.
Culture and local respect
Ask permission before photographing people, dress considerately when visiting religious places or rural communities and follow your guide’s advice. Some opening times and services change during Ramadan.
Preparing for the Sahara
Nights can be cold even after warm days. Bring an extra layer, protect devices from sand and follow instructions for camel rides, quad biking or 4×4 routes. Activities may be adjusted for wind or weather.
